About Business

Brentano Fabrics, located in the Northwest Chicago suburbs, manufactures and sells hundreds of fabrics and over 20 collections, displaying and selling from showrooms and sales offices in North America, Europe, and Asia.

Over the last two decades, Brentano Fabrics has grown to an internationally represented textile house with showrooms and sales offices spanning North America, Europe and Asia.

As a growing company, their technology needed to scale to meet growing business demands for sales, operations, and financial efficiency. Brentano also required detailed reporting to understand and meet the growing needs of their customer base.

The Challenges

Brentano’s relied upon redundant processes, which were both cumbersome and expensive. Without a modern Warehouse Management System (WMS), they relied on outdated processes for ordering, shipping, and inventory management. They were in search of an ERP solution that would solve their sales, warehouse management, procurement, inventory and related challenges.

Data visibility was also critical and their reliance on Microsoft Access was no longer feasible. “One of the reasons why we stuck with Microsoft Access for so long is because it allows analysis,” said Chen. “But Access was bursting at the seams. The other solutions we looked at were good but we would have had to export data and then repackage it before we could work with it. That didn’t make sense to us

The Solution

We learned that Brentano was in the middle of researching new ERP systems. However; they discovered that while there were features they liked in other ERP systems, it lacked the flexibility Brenatno needed in their specialized business.

Captivix conducted several demos of Microsoft Dynamics NAV. Because this ERP is specifically built for small and mid-sized businesses, Microsoft Dynamics NAV provided Brentano the functionality they needed, with the customizations they wanted within allocated budget.

NAV is also integrated into Brentano’s website, providing real-time inventory availability to provide immediate information to their core customer groups.

eCommerce functionality on their website, combined with ERP and mobile apps brings visibility to product and inventory data, helping to improve productivity, reporting and customer experience.
